Hi folks. Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assisitive Technologythose clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Do you remember the science fiction movies where people gave commands to computers and robot just by speaking to them? Well, voice input is no longer a futuristic wish.

For many people with limited use of their hands, some people with learning disabilities or even people who have repetitive stress injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome, voice activated computer systems are part of their ever day life.

Best of all, on many newer computer systems, high quality voice input is available for free. If you use windows, search your programs for Windows Speech Recognition and give it a try.
