TSA recommendations for traveling with a disability

Hi folks. Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Are you planning your summer vacation? Did you realize that when you travel, particularly when you fly in an airplane, there are some simple steps you can take to ensure a smooth trip with your assistive technology?

The TSA, Transportation Security Administration, has a web site with lots of helpful hints for travelers with disabilities. These include lending an arm to someone who is blind, allowing insulin pumps, hearing aids and other medical devices to be worn during the x-ray process, or allowing an attendant or family member to be present during a private screening, should that be preferred.

Check our show notes for a link to TSA web site for more.
