Accessibility Minute - Assistive Technology Tips and Tricks for Everyone

Aug 3, 2018

Here is the script for AM290 on Reliefband 2.0:

Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

Do you often experience nausea? The Reliefband 2.0 is a “drug-free, clinically proven, doctor-recommended, FDA-cleared wearable technology for the treatment of nausea and vomiting.” It is ideal for individuals who get sick from:

· Car, airplane, or sea sickness

· Vertigo

· Virtual reality

· Pregnancy

This is how the Reliefband 2.0 works:

1. The wearable delivers proprietary pulses from the contacts on the unique J-Band that signal the median nerve at the P6 location on the underside of the wrist

2. These signals travel through the body’s nervous system to the part of the brain which controls retching, nausea, and vomiting

3. The signals have a rebalancing effect, normalizing nerve messages from the brain to the stomach and reducing symptoms of nausea, retching, and vomiting
