199-09-02-16 REST: 24/7 Horse Therapy:
Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!
For individuals with ADHD, autism, PTSD, and more, it may be hard to find calming solutions. Did you know that the movement horseback riding provides is one possible solution? Developers and GAIT, LLC. have recently designed a device that replicates the same movements--so you can use it to relax at all hours of the day and night! The device is called REST, or Relaxing Equine Simulator Therapy.
Features of REST include:
- Portability: to transport the device, just grab the handle and
roll it on two wheels. Or use both handles to lift it into your
vehicle.
- Rechargeable: the rechargeable battery lasts 8+ hours, making it
even easier to take on the go. It also plugs easily into the wall
while to recharge!
- It's activated by pressure, so it begins moving when you sit on
it. Once you stand, it'll automatically stop.
