Accessibility Minute - Assistive Technology Tips and Tricks for Everyone

Aug 2, 2019

Hey there! Welcome to Accessibility Minute, your weekly look at Assistive Technology, those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs!

Looking for an app to help your child or student with dyslexia? Check out Augmenta11y. Augmenta11y is an Augmented Reality (AR) app that helps individuals with learning disabilities like dyslexia easily read signage, paper, and other material in the real world.

The application is fairly intuitive to use: simply point your device at the object at hand and let Augmenta11y work its magic. Features of app include:

  • You can customize font size, font style, line-height ratio, background contrast, letter spacing, and more
  • The app can assist you by reading the rendered text out loud to you
  • History tool keeps track of previously detected text for future reference, so you can revisit anything

Check Augmenta11y out on both Google Play and the App Store to learn more!
