Accessibility Minute - Assistive Technology Tips and Tricks for Everyone

Jun 1, 2012

A weekly look at assistive technology--tools designed to assist people with vision, mobility, or hearing impairments.  Produced by the INDATA Project at Easter Seals Crossroads in Indiana.

Hi folks. Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Planning for emergencies is a necessary part of our lives.  For people with disabilities, there are some special considerations to think about.  How do wheelchair users evacuate tall buildings if the elevators aren't working? How will a person who is blind navigate in a building evacuation?  The National Fire Protection Association has a number of answers to these questions as well as on-line resources to help businesses and organizations be better prepared to assist people with disabilities in emergency situations.  Check our show notes for a link to their "Emergency Evacuation Planning Guide for People with Disabilities."
