Accessibility Minute - Assistive Technology Tips and Tricks for Everyone

Jun 7, 2013

Show Notes

Hi folks. Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Universal Design for Learning or UDL is a concept that makes education more accessible.  Instead of focusing on retrofitting textbooks and classroom materials with assistive technology devices, UDL focuses on making the materials accessible up front for all students - regardless of their abilities.

In addition to ensuring that materials are compatible with speech output, braille or other alternative formats, UDL focuses on the WHAT, WHY and HOW of learning.  Check our show notes for a link to more information on how to implement UDL principals in your classroom.
