A weekly look at assistive technology--tools designed to assist people with vision, mobility, or hearing impairments.  Produced by the INDATA Project at Easter Seals Crossroads in Indiana.

Accessible Playgrounds

Hi folks.  Welcome to “Accessibility Minute”, your weekly look at  Assisitive Technology—those clever tools and devices designed to help people who have difficulties with vision, mobility, hearing or other special needs.

Let's face it, as the weather gets warmer, we all want to go outside and play.  For children with some disabilities, accessing a typical slide, swing or monkey bars on a playground may present a challenge.  Fortunately, there are an increasing number of  playgrounds with accessible equipment. is a web site that lists those facilities scattered throughout the United States and Canada.  Check their web site to find one near you and then spend some time with that special kid in your life enjoying some time outdoors.
